1200 Great Damage to Willpower
The Craftsmen’s Guild was shaped like a tower with more than a dozen floors.
The lanky craftsman took Su Mo very quickly from the first floor to the second, and then continued up to the third.
The second floor was another large hall with many Crystal counters. A few martial artists were selecting their weapons.
Su Mo glanced at them and became shocked. He realized that the weapons inside these counters were all incredibly powerful Honorable level weapons.
Each treasure shone with a strange light and color. Their auras were imposing.
“I wonder how much these weapons cost?” Su Mo wondered to himself. Their prices were not labeled but he was sure they would not come cheap.
Very soon, Su Mo and Qin Busi had followed the lanky craftsman to the third floor.
The third floor was not a hall; instead, it was a long corridor. It was quiet and lined with rooms on its either side.
After arriving on the third floor, the lanky craftsman’s expression grew solemn. He approached the door of the first room, took a deep breath and knocked.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Muffled knockings rang out. The lanky craftsman had knocked very gently and his face was very respectful.
“Come in!” A rich male voice sounded from inside.
The lanky craftsman motioned to Su Mo and gently pushed the door open, going in.
Su Mo and Qin Busi immediately followed him in.
The room was very big, like a small palace. There were drawing rooms, practice rooms, and forges inside.
On the main seat in the drawing room sat a middle-aged man with a dark complexion. The middle-aged man wore a long grey and white robe. There were two silver symbols embroidered on the front of his long robe.
The two symbols were a furnace and a simple, antique “Honorable” character.
Seeing this, Su Mo’s heart jumped. Did the “Honorable” character mean that the man was a martial artist in the Honorable Realm? Or did it mean that he was an Honorable level craftsman?
As this was the Craftsmen’s Guild, it was presumably the latter—he was an Honorable level craftsman.
“Greetings, Steward Chai!” the lanky craftsman walked into the drawing room and immediately saluted the middle-aged man.
Su Mo and Qin Busi did not dare to slight him and also saluted him.
“Lu Yun, what is it?” Steward Chai asked the lanky craftsman casually, sweeping his eyes across to Su Mo and Qin Busi.
The lanky craftsman’s name was Lu Yun.
Steward Chai’s voice was very imposing. Although there was no visible aura around his body, he had the dignity of a superior.
“Steward Chai, these people say they are Imperial Craftsmen and want to join our Craftsmen’s Guild!” The lanky craftsman Lu Yun’s expression was respectful as he pointed at Su Mo beside him.
“Oh?” Steward Chai sized Su Mo up and furrowed his brows.
Such a young Imperial Craftsman?
Seeing this, Lu Yun’s heart thumped and he said in a rush, “Steward Chai, I don’t really believe that he is an Imperial Craftsman either but he insists that he is. I couldn’t throw him out so I brought him to see you!”
Lu Yun’s words sounded reasonable. If Su Mo had not given him something, how could he have recommended Su Mo?
If he had said what he did and Su Mo made a fool of himself, Steward Chai could not fault him.
Steward Chai lifted his head slightly and asked Su Mo with some doubt, “Are you really an Imperial Craftsman?”
He really did not believe Su Mo was an Imperial Craftsman because he could see Su Mo’s age at a glance. He was no more than 30.
To be an Imperial Craftsman before 30, you needed astounding talent.
In the boundless Infinite Region, such talented craftsmen were very, very rare.
As the steward of the Craftsmen’s Guild, Steward Chai was responsible for testing these craftsmen who came to join them. He had seen many craftsmen who exaggerated their skills.
“Yes!” Su Mo nodded solemnly. He did not blush and his heart remained steady.
Lu Yun saw Su Mo’s calm expression and his heart was deeply suspicious. He must be lying, right?
We would see how you get out of this lying!
Lu Yun did not believe for a moment that Su Mo was an Imperial Craftsman. Otherwise, he would not need to be a disciple at first!
“Alright. As long as you can forge an Imperial level weapon, you can pass the test and become a craftsman of the Guild.”
Steward Chai nodded. Then, he got up and said, “I will take you to the Trial Forge.”
A test would prove whether Su Mo was telling the truth. Its result could not be fabricated.
Steward Chai walked away with broad strides and was about to head for the Trial Forge.
Lu Yun smiled and turned to follow Steward Chai. He was not going to wait for Su Mo to make a fool of himself!
“Steward Chai, wait a moment!” Suddenly, Su Mo spoke up and stopped Steward Chai.
“What’s the matter?” Steward Chai asked in a doubtful voice, stopping.
Su Mo gritted his teeth and saluted Steward Chai. “Steward Chai, could I take the test a few days later?”
It was impossible for him to create an Imperial level weapon right now. He wanted to stall for time.
“Why?” Steward Chai’s expression darkened. He now suspected that Su Mo was making a sport of him.
Take the test a few days later?
More likely, his craftsmanship was not high enough and he dared not take the test!
Anger rose in Steward Chai’s heart. If this was true, he would not hold back.
Su Mo needed to be punished severely or Steward Chai could not intimidate everyone. If any stray person could come in and take the test, Steward Chai would have time for nothing else!
Seeing this, Lu Yun almost laughed out loud. Really? Was he retreating so quickly? He did not even have the courage to take the test!
If Steward Chai was not here, Lu Yun would have laughed out three times and then humiliated Su Mo fiercely.
Even Qin Busi, who had been standing silently at his side, could not but flush red. His face twitched helplessly.
This was too embarrassing!
Su Mo took a deep breath and organized his thoughts. He invented a story. “On my way to the Guild, I was attacked by bandits and my willpower had been badly damaged. I probably couldn’t forge an Imperial level weapon right now!”
“Damaged your willpower badly?” Steward Chai furrowed his brows and shook his head. He was speechless. He could not forge an Imperial level weapon and had come up with such an excuse?
However, it was indeed a good excuse. He could not investigate his deception.
“In that case, you may go! I will not make things difficult for you!” Steward Chai waved his hand, motioning for Su Mo to leave.
Of course, Su Mo could not just leave like that. He immediately saluted Steward Chai and said, “Steward Chai, could I stay in the Guild for a few days? After recovering my willpower, I can take the test!”
Su Mo’s plan right now was to stay in the Guild. He could hide temporarily from the two murderous Honorables of the Sorcerer tribe. He could also make use of this time to master some craftsmanship skills.
As long as he had a few months… he was confident enough to forge an Imperial level weapon.
So long as he could forge an Imperial level weapon, he could become a member of the Guild. He and Qin Busi would have support. They would not need to worry about their lives.
Even if the two Honorables of the Sorcerer tribe wanted to kill him, they had to think about the Guild’s support, right?
